Google Play = NEW Android Market!
Google has renamed the Market, Google Play
This rebranding the store that offers electronics goods could raise the profile in a competitive market in hopes to better compete with Apple and Amazon.com.
Effective as of yesterday, Tues. the 6 of March, 2012, Google Play Store, sits atop of the Market.
Google has been stating that this change is designed to make it clear to consumers that Google offers a broad catalogue of content in addition to the apps programmed for smartphones and tablets based on its Android operating system.
Research shows some people think of only apps when they see the Android icon.
Which is the original content that you could find in the Market, UNTIL NOW!
Well not exactly NOW, for the past year and a half, Google has beefed-up their goods to offer Music, Videos and Electronics Books.
This is a little confusing to some, because the content was spread out though a variety of outlets, and through the store. Customers were calling and asking if the Markets products, was the same as the other outlets? It is the same.
The idea is to make it easier for customers to find all of the offered digital goods, which in-turn will bring more people to the store. Bringing more people to the store will boost sales and give Google a better footing with the competition.
Apple says in Oct. more than 16 billion songs were downloaded, as to Amazon said last year it sold more digital books than printed.
This is a huge market that will help Google expand even bigger.
