I like how this app can analyze your sleep pattern, wake up in the lightest sleep phase, the natural way to wake up where you feel rested and relaxed.
As you sleep you go through different phases that range from deep sleep to light sleep. The phase you are in when your alarm clock goes off is a critical factor regarding how tired you will feel when you wake up.
Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock monitors your movements during sleep!
It’s pretty cool how it uses the extremely sensitive accelerometer in your device. Then the application analyzes the optimal time to wake you up during a 30 minute window that ends at your set alarm time. You can choose an alarm sound that you preffer and settings for vibrate.
You will need to place the device on your mattress, somewhere that won’t interfere with you, but close enough to sense movements. Tap the Test button in the Menu bar and run a placement test, it will help you find the optimal area to place your device.
Note: Do Not Lock your device when going to bed. Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock automatically shuts down your screen and puts the phone into a power saving mode. If you lock your phone Sleep Cycle will not sense your movement and will then only be able to wake you at the end of the alarm time. There are instructions for placement in the application.
Don’t forget to set alarm volume to the maximum setting. And plug your device into the wall.
Sleep Cycle Alarm Clock, does not work on Tempur mattresses.
After waking and your morning routine, check out the Statistics for your sleep.
By the date, look at the time Went to bed / woke up, Total time, Average Total time (and number of nights averaged), and a graph showing time in hours and the depth of sleep you’re in. It’s pretty cool to see your sleep patterns on a sleep graph. Which you can share, by email or Facebook.
One more note: If you set the device on the table or floor it will become extremely sensitive and the noise from the accelerometer can be interpreted as movement and a random looking graph will created.
